Izarrualde, Gómez and González made their debut “EN TRIO” in April, 2002 at the Payro theatre in Buenos Aires. In 2003 the trio added percussionist Horacio López and the new quartet began recording their first album, aptly titled “Cuartoelemento”, premiering live in October of 2005 at the Presidente Alvear Theatre in Buenos Aires. This inaugural album won the 2006 Argentinian “Carlos Gardel” award in the category of “Tangos - New Forms”. During 2007, in addition to a rigorous touring schedule they also found time to record their second album “ALQUIMIA” (Alchemy).

Cuartoelemento’s vast repertoire includes original compositions from group members Nestor Gomez and Horacio Lopez as well as the works of artists such as Astor Piazzolla, “Cuchi” Leguizamon, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Fortunato Juárez, Ramón Navarro, Félix Palorma, Charlie Haden, Bireli Lagrene, Richard Galliano, Chango Nieto, Joao Bosco, Luis Bonfa, Don Sebesky, Armando Manzanero to name but a few.

CuartoelementoKnown for their spontaneous and improvisational style and uniquely Argentinian sound, Cuartoelemento have become popular live performers in their home country, frequently appearing at concert venues, auditoriums and theatres in Buenos Aires as well as performing at the Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival in 2004, The El Bolsón Jazz Festival in 2005 and the third Meeting of Popular Musicians of Rosario in 2006.

Cuartoelemento are making their Canadian premiere at the Kaslo Jazz Etc. Summer Music Festival and will be featured performers on the Live From Buenos Aires series at Festival Vancouver on Saturday, August 9, 2008.
