Zero Waste Program

Our goal is to eliminate garbage going into landfills! We need your help!

  • Reduce use of disposables wherever possible.

  • Avoid single serving items: instead use large dispensers for items like sugar, cream, sauce, salad dressing, mustard, relish, etc.

  • Use wooden stir sticks.

  • Bring items to the festival in cardboard or other reusable boxes/packaging rather than polystyrene or waxed cardboard.

  • Eliminate unnecessary waste items such as:

    • Polystyrene cups

    • Plastic film wrap, use cellophane wrap or paper

    • Plastic cutlery

    • Products that are over-packaged

    • Pre-wrapped straws

    • Pre-packaged sugar, cream, sauce, ketchup, etc.

    • Plastic bags

  • You can help to promote the recycling/composting system at the festival by telling your customers how to use the recycling/composting stations correctly. We will supply an explanation sheet for your booth.

  • Our recycling/composting stations will provide for disposal of refundable aluminum/plastic containers, compostable food waste, and compostable serving utensils, such as plates, bowls, and cutlery. The recycling/composting stations will make correct disposal easy.

The Story of Stuff” with Annie Leonard tells an interesting story of consumerism, overconsumption and “stuff.”
